Miniature sur ivoire 

Ovale : H. 6,5 cm, L. 5,1 cm

Dans un médaillon ovale en or, gravé au revers : « In Memory of / Mary and Jane Billing » ; monogramme en or J M B, avec deux perles et travail en cheveux. In a gold medallion engraved on the reverse, gold monogramme JMB, pearls and hair.

H. 7 cm, L. 5,7 cm

Provenance: marché de l'art parisien.

La mention gravée au revers associe dans la même pensée Mary et Jane Billing (mère et fille ?).

Sur le portrait, on note un petit repentir du peintre à l'épaule gauche. Tout le fond est traité en très petits tirets pointillés. L'ivoire est laissé en réserve pour la charlotte et une partie de la robe blanche.

The engraved mention on the reverse put in the same loving memory Mary and Jane (mother and daughter ?)

On the portrait, the artiste has slightly changed the position of the right shoulder. All the background is made in pointillé. The ivory is left natural for the charlotte and for parts of the white dress
