Hite)/ d'après un portrait du colonel John Trumbull/ H Raymond/ Témoignage ouvrir délicatement".

George Harrison Hite (1810-1880) était né à Urbana, Ohio, Etats-Unis. Il travailla à Charleston, à Cincinnati et était installé comme peintre en miniature à New York en 1838. Il exposa à la National Academy, New York, de 1839 à 1849. Selon l'inscription de l'artiste au revers de l'oeuvre, il réalisa cette miniature en 1853 à partir d'un portrait de John Trumbull, aujourd'hui perdu.

George Harrison Hite (Urbana, Ohio, 1810-1880) worked as a miniaturist in Charleston and Cincinnati and settled in New York City by 1838. He exhibited at the National Academy, New York from 1839 to 1849. According to the inscription by the artist on the reverse, Hite made this miniature after a portrait by Colonel Trumbull, a now lost portrait. On Hite, see D.T.
